What a great day food great fun clues made us all think would do again.
Delicious food, Every restaurant had something fantastic to offer, I didnt know these areas in Manchester existed, what a wonderful discovery,
I am looking forward to booking another soon.
Very well organised. Did the Indian food and all was very good. Saw places I'd never seen before.
Had a fun afternoon solving clues and having small plates of food in 3 different locations. We chose the indian food escape and it was good fun, opening your eyes to food u may not have tried before. First two restaurants were very good, the third was s little disappointing both food wise and the fact it was more like a market hall and we didn’t have the same experience with regards to restaurant staff and them spending time chatting to us. Possibly would do another one at some point.

we had so much fun on this food escapes !!! not being from manchester we thought it might be difficult for us to understand the clues however it was so much fun and we managed to get all but one correct first time !! i loved that we had time to walk/run off our food after each meal as they were delicious and also filling ! definitely worth it and would so do this again , thankyou so much !!!
Omg this is a must try experience if you love exploring Manchester and food! Delicious food in lovely settings whilst roaming around the city trying to solve clues. We LOVED it!

This is our second tour in a month, the first was ‘Streets of the East’. Both were great experiences with delicious food in places we have never tried before. We would recommend!
Game was fun and concept is great but needs improvement and more value for money. The AI system needs to allow multiple versions of the right answer and feels like someone needs to walk the route again. The food value based on the menus is around £50 and there isn’t a ‘main meal’ or dessert (or drinks). Should surely be a starter, main and dessert as you go around the venues. Were we full? For £100 not really.
Hi Mike, I'm both sorry that you didn't feel you had a good time, but also grateful you wrote this review too. In 6 months since launch, this is our first 2-star review on any game, so I would love to share my thoughts publicly back to you too:
- AI system: there is no AI involved in this game. I'm Aaron, I'm the founder of food escapes, I walked every route and wrote every clue myself in Manchester, and the game is a logic tree not AI. I've gone through your game logs and the 'bills' question is what I assume you're referring to as it was the only question of the ~50 clues where you asked for the answer. Thanks for flagging this, you're the first of 153 players on this route to answer the way you did, however it was a totally valid answer and I find it so interesting to see how different people interpret the clues I write! And now in future other players who answer this clue the way you did will have this answer accepted so thank you!
- Value for money: It's always a challenge with different appetites, and other reviews on this game show people leave well fed, and loving the variety and quality of food served which I hope you did too. But it doesn't seem like you're inferring you left hungry just that it wasn't good value to you. While overstating what you paid for your order by some margin, if the only value you're attributing to this experience is food, then can't argue with that! But it's a 3-hour puzzle game experience with hand written clues taking you across the city curating a journey of food, culture and history. Perhaps this wasn't valuable for you as the premise of Food Escapes and I'm sorry it didn't meet your expectations.
- Food type: This is a savoury food Indian street eats game as written in the description. There are other routes which follow your suggested structure as the game theme suits it better e.g. Comfort Cravings, or Los Tacos, Streets of the East.

We had a brilliant fun day visiting areas of Manchester that we didnt know about & eating the most delicious food we hadnt heard of before. We will definitely revisit the restaurants. The clues weren't too difficult but interesting to learn more about the history of the city

Really enjoyed the experience. However once dark its very hard to get some of the clues. We did the Indian street food tour. I would suggest completing during light hours as some areas were a little creepy in the dark! Food however was excellent i would absolutely recommend.

I know exactly the areas you're talking about, and this week we've rewritten sections of the game to keep it the same length, but routing away from those areas. We never want anyone to feel unsafe during the games so the change has been made especially as we move towards the darker evenings again (unfortunately). A fantastic and fun experience that combined great foods with exploring a part of Manchester. It took us to new places to eat and we had 3 delicious courses. The clues and game were fun too, a nice blend of simple with a few challenging clues to solve.

What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Started at 3 on time. The clues were great, some easy, some not. The Venus and food were something I had never eaten at or eaten before. A few tipples along the way at our expense just added to the experience. I think I know Manchester well but this experience took me to places I didn’t even know existed. All within walking distance and a few round in circles but not the clues just me 🙄. Do it! Grab a few mates or just two of you as it helps with the clues and have great fun, food filled, brain teasing time in city we all love 🙂
Got this as a birthday present for my husband and he truly loved the experience! We lived in the city for 10years before moving out and it was great to explore the little hidden gems. We walked down streets that neither of us venture down before.
The food was great too! We got to taste things that we wouldn’t normally pick.

We had such a fun time with Food Escapes! The clues were clever, the food was delicious, and it made for a really unique experience. I’d love to see a dessert-themed version in the future—I’d definitely book it!
One of the locations- the part where you go down the side of the Unite Students accommodation felt a little unsafe- quite a remote area. I wouldn’t feel safe going down there if it was dark. Just something to consider for future clues. But overall, well put together.
Hi there, thank you for your feedback! The part you're talking about is a common throughfare between student buildings an accommodations, and although the graffiti is commissioned in most parts and gives it a unique character, we can understand why it feels uncomfortable. The game is actually dynamic, so when it's dark, it already knows not to send people down that route as it's not well lit, but we want to keep everyone feeling safe, so your comments are very valid and we're looking at redesigning the route this week. What a great experience!
This food escape was very well run and the clues were fun to solve. We experienced restaurants we wouldn't maybe have come across ourselves and saw parts of Manchester we didn't know. The food at each establishment was delicious.
Will probably book another soon. Highly recommend
